Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-09 Requirement: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) reviewing staffing information to support routine assessments of personnel changes and basic organizational needs; 2) processing personnel action documents by checking for completeness and providing simple guidance on required materials; AND 3) supporting employee services by tracking training, preparing onboarding materials, and maintaining personnel records in automated systems.
