Water Treatment Plant Operative
About this role
We are currently recruiting for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at our Flixton site near Bungay. This role operates on a 4-on, 4-off day-shift pattern, working from 6:00am to 6:00pm. You will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the site’s wastewater treatment plant. Your key responsibilities will include: • Operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment plant systems.
• Managing filtering and chemical-treatment processes. • Completing daily inspections to ensure the plant is operating safely and effectively. • Inspecting, servicing and repairing plant components, including water intakes, pipes and water-storage vessels. • Assisting engineers with the preparation of work orders and arrangements for major repairs. • Monitoring the condition and performance of equipment and reporting faults promptly.
• Taking water-meter readings from locations around the factory. • Maintaining the boiler and chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) systems. • Keeping accurate daily operating, inspection and maintenance records. • Ensuring all records are current and completed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. • Following all health, safety, environmental and food-manufacturing procedures. • Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
We are looking for a reliable and technically capable person who can work safely and effectively within a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have: • Previous experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, utilities, engineering or a similar technical role, although this is desirable rather than essential. • A practical understanding of mechanical systems, pumps, pipework and plant equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety and quality-control standards within a manufacturing environment. • The ability to complete inspections, identify faults and support maintenance and repair work. • Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. • The confidence to work independently and use their own initiative. • A hardworking, proactive and dependable approach. • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
