WHAT YOU'LL DO As the VP of Product reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee product teams across all Mapbox services to drive our strategic direction, product-market fit, and commercial adoption.

This role entails both managing a complex, scaled product portfolio, and simultaneously driving zero-to-one initiatives to build and launch new lines of business. Operating in a rapidly evolving environment, you will partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and data scientists to deliver a best-in-class developer experience, pioneer AI-powered location features, and build robust merchant and business ecosystems.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Shape the Vision: Develop and communicate a clear product vision for our external-facing services in alignment with overall company goals. You will operate in "founder mode" by thinking highly entrepreneurially not just to ship features, but to actively build and scale the business. - Build for the Customer: Engage directly and effectively with customers, external industry leaders, developers, and key partners to understand their needs, gather feedback, and evangelize the product.

- Grow the Merchant Ecosystem: Drive product strategies specifically designed for B2B2C environments, focusing on how we successfully onboard merchants, businesses, and rich external data sets onto our platform. - Collaborate: Partner with engineering leads to balance feature development with operational excellence and platform scalability. Work closely with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to optimize go-to-market strategies, product messaging, and client support.

- Demonstrate Organizational Leadership: You understand the 10X difference between good and great product organizations. As our customer needs, technologies, and product strategy evolve, you will evolve our product organization with it while maintaining rigorous product management fundamentals. WHAT WE BELIEVE ARE IMPORTANT TRAITS FOR THIS ROLE - Product Leadership: 10+ years of leadership experience. Deep, proven background in building, scaling, and driving strategic initiatives in diverse organizational settings.

- AI Transformation: Strong technical foundation in artificial intelligence, including experience developing, integrating, or scaling AI-powered features, and models such as MCP, agents, and toolkits. - B2B2C & Consumer Ecosystem Expertise: Strong preference for leaders who have built for large consumer or B2B2C ecosystems with a track record of successfully onboarding merchants and businesses onto platforms. - Zero-to-One Track Record: You operate with extreme agency as a business builder; a proven founder, a new service owner, or have bootstrapped a business from scratch.

- Go-To-Market (GTM) Execution: Proven track record of developing and driving comprehensive GTM strategies. You know how to successfully align product, marketing, and sales teams to launch new capabilities, drive rapid adoption, and scale revenue across both developer platforms and consumer ecosystems. - Technical Expertise: Our teams and customers are technical and value technical depth and critical thinking. Prior experience in developer focused products, delivering APIs, SDKs, AI integrations, and/or iOS/Android Apps is critical.

- Ownership & Execution: Own the technical product vision, lead the strategy, and work alongside engineering counterparts to guide the team in executing the plan. You treat failures as critical learning opportunities, actively seeking feedback and continuously adapting product strategy to evolving customer needs and market realities. - Customer Focus: You care deeply about your customers and their problems, and you work tirelessly to innovate on their behalf.

- Data-driven Decisions: You believe in the value of data-informed decision-making and strive to measure things that are not straightforward but essential. You also have the right instincts to make speedy decisions in the absence of perfect & comprehensive data. - Strong written and vocal communication skills: You can talk and write about complex ideas concisely to a wide audience. - Operational Excellence: You drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement in your organization.

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $331,000 - $410,000 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
