About this role

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-9 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-9: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Visual Information Specialist and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience includes experience planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-9: You must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two ( 2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B.

or J.D. (related to the position) from an accredited college or university. Such education must include major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) ~OR~ COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GS-9: You must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, which may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level.

The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Visual Information Specialist position and must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Additional Specialized Experience required for the GS-11 level includes editing, publishing, and monitoring submissions; experience selecting the appropriate format or medium for execution, suggesting illustrations for incorporation, designing layout, and converting the result to a finished product suitable for reproduction, web content, social media & electronic or print distribution.

(THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-11: You must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university. Such education must include major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.

The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Visual Information Specialist position and must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

(THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE AND COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) Physical Requirements: Regular and recurring work is mostly sedentary involving sitting at a desk, although the position requires the ability to move from one geographic location of the facility to another. The incumbent works with a computer screen and keyboard. The employee will spend some time walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, and carrying some light items.
