TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
About this role
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0391, Telecommunications Series. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0300/telecommunications-series-0391/ EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-07) or equivalent in other pay systems.
Specialized experience includes: Evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrate knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology; as well as implementing standard and specialized communications systems through the application of established operating techniques, technical guides, design principles, and concepts of operations; and troubleshooting moderately complex technical issues across circuits, switches, distribution systems, satellite linkages, and networks to ensure seamless internal compatibility and external interoperability.
OR EDUCATION: Must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. Major studies include: electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position.
