Technical Writer - Maintenance and Operation Manuals

About this role

As a technical writer, you will be responsible for gathering, processing, and delivering technical information for our products and systems. You will be involved in the documentation process and work closely with system engineers, trainers, and other specialists to ensure that the documentation is accurate, clear, and useful. Collect technical information from various sources, such as system engineers, coordinators, and trainers.

Participate in customer meetings to ensure documentation requirements are met. Attend internal meetings for feedback and reporting. Write and update technical documentation in XML format, including: Technical descriptions Maintenance instructions Fault-finding instructions Driver manuals Review, translate, and proofread documentation in both Swedish and English. Create and update technical illustrations. Administer and update document revisions.

Support the team according to plan, including proofreading colleagues’ documents. Hands-on experience in maintenance and troubleshooting. Relevant education in technical documentation, information design, engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent work experience, such as maintenance technician. Experience in technical work within automation, rail, aviation or similar industries. Experience as a technical writer, information designer, or communicator.

Excellent proficiency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken. Merits: Experience working with railway vehicles. Knowledge of Arbortext XML, content management systems (CMS), and scripting. Understand how customers actually use documentation in the field. Align documentation with real operational and maintenance workflows. Understand and implement customer-driven validation and acceptance criteria. Translate customer use cases into document structure, content depth, and usability.

Ensure the documentation is technically correct, safe, and configuration-aligned. Support documentation acceptance during testing, commissioning, and final delivery.
