Tech Lead & Product Owner - AI Platform (m/f/d)
About this role
You'll own both the technical direction and product roadmap for SIXT's central MLOps/LLMOps Platform: the foundation enabling 80+ Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and product teams to ship GenAI applications at scale. You shape the architecture, review code, and jump into implementation when it counts. Based in Pullach near Munich with our Data Science team, you'll drive the platform that powers SIXT's AI future. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT You own the architecture of the MLOps/LLMOps Platform.
You make the design calls, weigh build vs. buy, and are accountable for the technical direction You review code and designs regularly to keep quality high, and you go hands-on when it counts: prototyping a spike, debugging a production incident, or picking up implementation work when it makes the difference You own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for the platform, set priorities, make tradeoff calls, and stay accountable for the value delivered You run the agile cadence (stand-ups, planning, refinement, reviews, retros), moderate technical discussions, and drive the team to clear decisions while keeping everyone focused and unblocked You represent your users and turn their needs into platform capabilities and adoption You manage dependencies and risks and align an international set of stakeholders YOUR SKILLS MATTER Engineering & Architecture You have built and shipped production software (ideally in Python and infrastructure-as-code), can still do it, and you design and evaluate platform architectures rather than delegating technical direction.
You read an unfamiliar codebase comfortably, review a PR on its merits, and contribute a fix or prototype yourself Product Ownership You have a proven track record as a Tech Lead, Technical Product Owner, or Engineering Lead with real backlog and roadmap responsibility. You set direction, prioritize, and drive outcomes rather than just coordinate MLOps/LLMOps Depth You have a solid understanding of ML and LLM lifecycles and platform engineering, enough to own technical prioritization with confidence AI-Assisted Development You use AI-assisted tools thoughtfully and know how to apply them in ways that remain reviewable, reliable, and useful in day-to-day engineering work Nice to Have You have experience with AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock), CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, LLM gateways, RAG, and agentic frameworks (e.g.
