THE ROLE Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will operate in a fast-paced auction environment, supporting the day-to-day management of goods moving under Sotheby’s customs reliefs regimes.
This entry-level role is primarily focused on customs operations, with opportunities to contribute to broader tax projects and initiatives. This is an operational position requiring accuracy, strong attention to detail, good analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who learns quickly, is comfortable working with data, and has strong Excel and analytical skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in tax and customs while gaining experience in a high-value, deadline-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES The management of goods imported into the UK includes the following responsibilities: Preparing and submitting customs declarations under the supervision of the Tax Analyst. Maintaining accurate customs records, ensuring data captured in internal systems aligns with submitted declarations. Monitoring Temporary Admission deadlines, proactively escalating upcoming time limits to senior team members and liaising with internal stakeholders (Operations, Logistics, Client Services, and Specialists) to obtain required information.
