Basic Requirement for Supervisory Prevention Specialist {Prevention Lead) {Prevention Workforce); Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in the behavioral or social sciences, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as prevention science or public health.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience conducting analysis of existing capabilities and resources to identify factors that inhibit implementation and evaluation of prevention activities; researching proposed approaches to prevention to ensure they are evidence-informed and will result in decreases of harmful behavior; supporting ongoing prevention policy development and refinement that supports the local prevention system and provides for evaluation of prevention strategy and activities; AND building the prevention capacity of the community through activities at the individual, interpersonal/family/unit, organizational, community and societal levels.
