About this role

Toast is looking for a Staff Software engineer to lead our Enterprise Sports & Entertainment team. You will get to work across the entire Toast platform, including our POS, backend, and front end systems. As a member of the Enterprise Sports & Entertainment team, you will help deliver the most important features for our Sports & Entertainment and hospitality customers and directly impact Toast’s success.

A day in the life (Responsibilities) Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features across Toast’s Sports & Entertainment product offerings Lead complex projects that improve functionality and reliability for our customers Partner with a wide array of teams across Toast Ensure quality by building automated testing for changes Roll* features out to customers, including monitoring for success Partner closely with Design and Product on the definition and design of features Partner with cross-functional functions including Customer Success, Solutions, Sales, Care, and Onboarding to ensure technical deliverables align with enterprise customer expectations and long-term strategy Mentor and coach other engineers Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) 8+ years experience building backend services and APIs Extensive experience working with an Object Oriented Language like Java or Kotlin, with a deep understanding of testing, quality, and best practices Experience shipping production services and balancing getting things done with platform stability and reliability Experience building backend services and APIs and scaling distributed systems Experience building android applications with kotlin is a plus Experience building front end applications is a plus Focused on delivering positive impact for Toast customers Enjoys working in a team environment with a shared code-base Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics AI at Toast At Toast, one of our company values is that we're hungry to build and learn.
