Software Engineer

About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE You'll be a core engineer on a fast-moving team building a SaaS messaging platform, owning features end-to-end from APIs and interfaces to the infrastructure underneath. Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll stay close to customers and leadership and understand the "why" behind every decision. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and ship product across the full stack using React/Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and Go, moving fast without sacrificing quality.

- Own features from conception through deployment, with direct visibility into customer needs and business impact. - Work across every layer of the stack, diving in wherever the work takes you. - Collaborate closely with a small team where there is no bureaucracy between you and the work. - Ship code daily while maintaining clean, functional standards and continuously improving your craft. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.

- Proficiency across the full stack: React/Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and Go. - Experience designing, building, or consuming APIs at scale. - Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Heroku, or Docker. - Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where priorities shift and you figure things out as you go. - A belief that speed and quality are not trade-offs, you find ways to deliver both.

- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to continuous learning. - A collaborative mindset: technically strong and easy to work with. - Background in startup or early-stage company environments is a plus. - Familiarity with messaging platforms, telecommunications infrastructure, or communication APIs (SMS, RCS, voice) is a bonus. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000 USD annually.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION Hybrid, based in Birmingham, Alabama. Candidates in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY will also be considered.
