Social Worker
About this role
About Us We Are Survivors is a survivor-focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male (including trans and non-binary individuals) survivors of sexual harms across Greater Manchester, providing access to quality-assured support. Our work is focused on developing ways for individuals to empower themselves to work through personal and sometimes painful issues, guided and supported by our trauma-informed team, following the trauma and recovery model.
Our vision is to have “A society where NO male survivor is left behind” About Role We’re looking for a Social Worker to join our innovative Pathfinder service, working with male survivors of sexual harm across Greater Manchester. This is a role for someone who understands that, for some survivors, getting the right support isn’t as simple as making a referral. The men you’ll work alongside may have become disengaged from services, experienced multiple barriers to getting help, or be dealing with a combination of trauma and practical challenges in their lives.
Your role will be about building relationships, understanding what is getting in the way, and helping to ensure that no male survivor is left behind. A big part of the role will be practical. You might support someone around housing, finances, welfare, accessing healthcare or connecting with other services. Just as importantly, you’ll help bring the different people and organisations around a survivor together, reducing the need for them to navigate complex systems alone.
This reflects the wider role profile, which places a strong emphasis on advocacy, responding to vulnerability and collaborative working with social care and healthcare professionals. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary Pathfinder team, working alongside highly specialised psychotherapists, psychiatry, complex case workers and low-intensity mental health practitioners, as well as partners across Greater Manchester’s sexual harm services.
It’s an opportunity to practise social work in a genuinely collaborative way, combining trauma-informed support with practical problem-solving and helping services work better together around the person. We’re particularly interested in someone who can engage people who may not always find traditional services easy to access. You’ll need to be professionally curious, comfortable working with complexity and able to balance compassionate relationship-building with safeguarding, risk and professional boundaries.
