We’re building bridges between online, social and land-based gaming businesses to create amazing, integrated experiences that keep players in the game. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Services to play a foundational role in building the technology behind our digital experiences.
This includes designing and building backend services, APIs, event processing systems, and integrations that enable analytics, lifecycle engagement, and downstream data systems. The role goes beyond feature delivery, developing platform capabilities that support our broader modernization strategy while helping transition the existing delivery model by balancing BAU support with long-term architectural goals. In addition to hands-on development, responsibilities include providing technical leadership, driving engineering best practices, and mentoring other engineers.
The role requires deep backend engineering expertise combined with systems thinking, architectural discipline, and a strong appreciation for scalability, reliability, observability, and maintainability. What You'll Do: Lead Java backend development using Spring, Hibernate, Dropwizard, and related technologies, building scalable microservices for high-volume, highly available digital platforms. Design and evolve RESTful APIs, service-to-service communication, and event-driven architectures using Kafka and asynchronous messaging.
Own resilient internal and third-party integrations, including retry handling, idempotency, monitoring, and operational support. Manage event contracts and payload schemas with Product, Analytics, and Engineering, ensuring reliable, well-structured data for downstream CRM, lifecycle, reporting, and analytics systems. Define platform-wide API governance, service contracts, versioning, and integration standards. Support business-as-usual (BAU) operations while reducing technical debt, simplifying legacy processes, and modernizing architecture through service consolidation.
