Senior Frontend Engineer - Send Convenience
About this role
About the role The team’s ambition is simple: people should be able to pay anything, anywhere, with Wise. Send Convenience is building the experience that makes that possible. From sending money home to paying rent, utilities, and taxes, we’re making Wise the account people can rely on for everyday life across borders. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you’ll build flows and shape the experience 15 million customers use every month.
Every unnecessary step you remove and every interaction you improve makes a difference at that scale. You’ll be the team’s main web contributor, with the autonomy to question a journey, propose a better one, and build it. Working with product, design, and engineering colleagues across Tallinn and London, you’ll help decide what great looks like, and bring it to life. What will you be working on? Building better ways to pay bills, from the UK to Australia to Brazil: turning different local payment methods into experiences that feel familiar and easy to use.
Making everyday sending effortless: removing unnecessary steps, repetitive input, and confusing choices from our send money flow. Shaping the product from the start: working with product, design, and research to understand customer problems, test ideas, and decide what to build. Owning features through launch and beyond: making technical decisions, shipping useful improvements, measuring their impact, and keeping them reliable in production.
Raising the standard for web craft: building performant, accessible interfaces with thoughtful interactions and clear error recovery, and sharing better engineering practices across the team and web community. We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you! You’ve shipped customer-facing web products at scale.
You can explain the decisions behind them and the difference they made. You have strong JavaScript and browser fundamentals, with experience building production applications using React or similar. You have experience with TypeScript and Node.js . You have an eye for UX and detail. You notice when an interaction feels wrong, understand why, and take the initiative to improve it. You make technical decisions for the long-term.
