Senior Engineer, Core
About this role
As a Core Engineer you will use your experience with Unreal Engine core code discipline to find the best ways to use Unreal Engine to develop believable large open-world games and, when needed, find ways to shape and push the technology further. In this role, you will become part of the Team responsible for developing Streaming solutions, editor tools, physics engine support and engine level optimizations. As someone who has significant experience with Unreal Engine , you will be working with and guiding the whole project to build solid technology for the new Witcher saga and our future games.
Daily Responsibilities Developing and maintaining core technology systems built on Unreal Engine. Proposing and implementing solutions to the technical demands of performance and scale of a large open world game. Cooperating with Epic to share ideas and find ways to take the technology forward. Creating a technology for a game that delivers memorable experiences to players. Working across all disciplines to ensure that the outcome of the work is meeting the needs of all stakeholders.
Creating tools and data pipelines to achieve our massive world with minimal performance impact. Demonstrating a strong ownership mindset by proactively maintaining clear communication and building close, ongoing relationships with power users of our systems. Significant Unreal Engine experience , specifically experience in one or more of the following areas: Streaming (ex. World Partition System, HLOD, cooking pipeline, FastGeo) Memory system (allocations, GC) Physics (ChaosPhysics) World building tools (SceneOutliner, LevelInstances) Extensive experience with C++.
Relevant game development experience, including experience working on a AAA title. Experience in developing for PC and consoles. Experience with multithreaded programming. Strong system architecture skills. Ability to debug and optimize code. A collaborative mindset, clear communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across teams. Nice to have (Please note these skills are not required to apply to the role) Experience with custom game engines development.
