SENIOR ENFORCEMENT SPECIALIST

About this role

In order to qualify for this position, in addition to the basic education requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Professional experience that provided candidates with a thorough current understanding of the principles, theories, and practices in one or more relevant fields of physical science or engineering gained through several years of specialized professional experience.

For this position, specialized experience includes experience that demonstrates the ability to understand scientific and technical principles, requirements, and practices to be able to apply them to factual findings for the purpose of preparing and defending enforcement actions. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated knowledge of the theories, principles and practices related to nuclear power plants or radiation safety as it relates to the nuclear materials program.

Demonstrated ability to negotiate positions and resolve differing views to reach consensus. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectiv ly, both orally and in writing, demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with managers, Federal, State and local government agencies, professional committees and coworkers. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC regulatory program, licensing or inspection/enforcement techniques and standards.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate policy issues and questions arising from assigned projects and to propose to management the need for changes in policies, procedures and requirements.
