Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Your Contribution Are you passionate about designing scalable data platforms and helping others grow along the way? As a Senior Data Engineer, you will shape the architecture and technical direction of our Google Cloud data platform while enabling a team of engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality data products. Working closely with the Head of Data Platform, product teams, data scientists, analysts, and engineers across DISH and METRO, you will build the foundation for data-driven decision-making across the business.
This is a highly influential role combining hands-on engineering, architectural leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement. Menu of Responsibilities Define and evolve the architecture, standards, and roadmap of our Google Cloud data platform, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term scalability. Design and deliver reliable, high-performance data pipelines and data products using modern cloud-native tools and engineering practices.
Establish data quality, governance, testing, monitoring, and operational excellence practices that enable trusted analytics and machine learning outcomes. Mentor engineers across different experience levels through coaching, code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. Lead the resolution of complex technical challenges, production incidents, and cross-functional initiatives while fostering collaboration and shared ownership.
Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, with clear quality, security, and reliability guardrails. Ingredients for Success Proven expertise in designing and operating scalable data platforms and distributed data systems in a cloud environment. Deep knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and modern warehouse or lakehouse approaches, with strong Python and SQL skills.
Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and related technologies. Strong experience building data orchestration, transformation, and testing solutions using tools such as Airflow and dbt. Demonstrated ability to define technical direction, influence architectural decisions, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
