SAP Cloud Platforms Architect
About this role
Overall Purpose of Job: SAP Cloud Platforms Architect designs, implements, and stabilizes enterprise cloud platform capabilities across SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Business Data Cloud. In the current team stage, this is a hands-on architect role that combines platform design, technical delivery, operational ownership, and stakeholder enablement in close partnership with the Lead Architect. Main tasks, roles and responsibilities: • Define and evolve the target architecture and roadmap for SAP BTP and SAP Business Data Cloud, including platform capabilities, runtime choices, reusable patterns, and standards for extension, integration, automation, data, and AI.
• Establish and maintain the cloud operating model for accounts and tenants, including global accounts, directories, subaccounts, entitlements, quotas, budgets, regional placement, and SAP Business Data Cloud formations/provisioning. • Design and implement foundational platform services such as identity and trust, role collections, user provisioning, secure access patterns, and lifecycle administration for cloud users and applications.
• Establish automation and delivery mechanisms using the SAP BTP CLI, infrastructure-as-code where appropriate, and SAP Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines. • Lead hands-on implementation of new platform capabilities, pilot scenarios, and proof-of-concepts, translating requirements into deployable and supportable cloud solutions. • Create and document reusable reference architectures for clean-core side-by-side extensions, event-driven integration, secure connectivity, and data-product-oriented scenarios.
• Operate and stabilize productive services until dedicated operational roles are added, including provisioning, configuration changes, troubleshooting, service health reviews, and runtime optimization. • Implement end-to-end observability with monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards, and operational analytics using SAP Cloud ALM and relevant BTP observability services. • Own the technical security baseline within the team’s scope, including secure configuration, auditability, logging, and remediation follow-up under SAP’s shared-responsibility model.
• Enable application teams and internal stakeholders through standards, onboarding guidance, architecture documents, runbooks, and knowledge transfer, while continuously evaluating new BTP/BDC capabilities for practical adoption • Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex incidents, performance issues and major changes; contribute to CAB/change governance and provide input to KPI/SLA reporting. • Collaborate closely with the Domain Lead IT, service owners, project teams, security, operations and enterprise architecture.
