About this role
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: experience at the GG/GS-14 level (or equivalent) demonstrating the ability to lead complex, agency-wide incident response and continuity planning efforts; apply authoritative judgment to interpret and integrate emergency management policy across headquarters, regions, and interagency partners; and shape organizational readiness through strategic influence and collaborative problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated ability to lead NRC-wide incident response and continuity program development by designing, integrating, and maintaining agency incident response plans and procedures; ensuring alignment with Federal and State frameworks; and driving cross-office standardization that strengthens the NRC's ability to respond effectively during complex events, drills, and exercises.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a senior technical authority on emergency management policy by developing operational criteria, updating guidance, and directing HQ-region-interagency interface programs; and by leading rigorous reviews and assessments that improve overall regional emergency management performance. Demonstrated ability to represent the NRC in national-level preparedness, continuity, and emergency response activities through leadership of multi-agency initiatives, negotiation and refinement of interagency agreements, and promotion of clearly defined NRC roles within national response frameworks to enhance unity of effort across Federal and State partners.
