Informa TechTarget is seeking an ambitious journalist to work as part of the Accountancy Age team in the UK, reporting to the editor of Accountancy Age. The role involves producing news, analysis, feature and multimedia content for an audience of UK and European accounting and finance professionals. Candidates should have experience covering a business-oriented beat, writing and editing content, and executing on strategic editorial plans.
The ideal candidate has knowledge of the issues facing business, finance and/or accounting professionals in their daily work. All candidates must be comfortable learning about new concepts and writing for a business audience. The role would suit a journalist with a year or two of reporting experience or a recent graduate journalist with evidence of completing internships / work experience at business titles. Essential job functions: Writing articles, conducting interviews, reporting on accountancy and finance issues across UK and Europe; Reporting/writing trend stories, features, news, analysis, photo stories and other content; Developing and maintaining industry professionals and experts as sources, contributors or partners; Writing content, working with external contributors and occasionally editing copy; Collaborating effectively with other editorial and operations teams; Leveraging social media and online communities for content ideas and site visibility; Covering relevant UK and international conferences and events; Working with UK and US editorial teams to develop and execute on content strategies; Using content management systems, online reporting tools and other production systems; Learning and leveraging search engine and AI optimisation techniques in all content produced.
Knowledge, skills and abilities desired: Experience of reporting and editing, preferably covering the accounting/finance profession or general business issues; A recognised journalism qualification, such as NCTJ or university journalism graduate or postgraduate degree; Strong organisational and management skills, able to manage multiple projects, prioritise workload and hit deadlines; Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with an extended editorial team based in the UK and US; Experience with online production systems and reporting systems, experience with multimedia (video, audio, photo) and experience with social media platforms; Knowledge of the basic fundamentals and ethics of news writing and editing; able to produce clear, concise copy.
