About this role

In order to qualify for this position, you must have the basic education requirements listed below plus at least one year of specialized experience at the GG-13 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that demonstrates knowledge of NRC programs, policies and authorities and a working knowledge of and familiarity with organizational structures, operating procedures and staff throughout the agency related to regulatory activities.

In addition, candidates must have a thorough knowledge of and expertise in the principles, practices and theories involved in the design, functions and safety considerations relating to nuclear facilities; safe and effective use of radiological materials and radiological emergency response planning. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices involved in the design, functions, and safety considerations related to nuclear and fuel facilities, safe and effective use of nuclear and fuel materials, and nuclear and fuel emergency response planning.

Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and NRC legislation, policies and programs on state involvement in nuclear and fuel facility regulations to facilitate inspection accompaniments responsive and address state and local government requirements and needs. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with all NRC staff, media officials, federal, state and local officials, licensee management to logically develop and present facts and recommendations in support of prosed actions and building and maintaining intergovernmental relationships.

Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state legislation, and agency regulations related to incident response and emergency preparedness capabilities to effective support NRC incident response functions including coordinating emergency preparedness and incident response program activities.
