We are recruiting for a Publisher to join the Medicine & Health journals team. The Publisher will be responsible for our portfolio of Disability & Rehabilitation Journals. The successful candidate will be a part of our highly motivated Medicine & Health team, supporting Taylor & Francis' wider success through the management and development of academic journals. Our Disability & Rehabilitation high value portfolio publishes at the cutting edge of the field, working with leaders in academia, healthcare and industry.
As part of our global cross-functional publishing team, this role will work closely with colleagues and partners worldwide. This role is offered on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week to be worked from our office in either Milton Park, Oxfordshire (OX14) or London Blackfriars. The remaining time can be worked from home. What you'll be doing: Portfolio Management and Growth Creating and delivering strategic development plans that drive quality, growth, and profitability for the Disability & Rehabilitation portfolio Overseeing and managing P&Ls under the direction of the Executive Publisher Meeting and exceeding where possible revenue and article volume targets Building, maintaining and sharing a thorough knowledge of market need and competitor activity to inform decisions on journal development Contributing to new and existing journal proposals, managing the successful transition of acquired titles to Taylor & Francis and onboarding newly launched journals Working with external Editors, Editorial teams and internal colleagues to commission and acquire new content Relationship Management Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with academic societies Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with journal editors and potential editors from relevant academic communities Developing networks within academic communities to position T&F as a subject leader Representing T&F Journals at conferences and editorial board meetings Championing portfolio initiatives with internal and external stakeholders Collaborating effectively with immediate team members and the wider business to exchange ideas, share best practices, and offer necessary support Supporting the best interests of the business during negotiations, collaborating with their manager to ensure a positive outcome for all parties involved Operational Excellence Ensuring compliance with T&F Journal policies and best practices Optimizing publishing processes for efficiency and quality Collaborating with and supporting the work of the Editor Services team Collaborating across departments to ensure publication quality and timeliness Assuming accountability for managing your own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps What we're looking for: Proven track record of working in scholarly publications Knowledge of publishing best practice and policies, including an interest in publication ethics, funder mandates and industry trends Strong subject matter expertise or interest in a relevant field Experience working with external partners, including editors, editorial boards, and Society leadership Experience with recruitment and engagement of external Academic Editors An understanding of financial reporting and analysis as they relate to academic journals and previous P&L responsibility Experience gathering competitive intelligence and performing market analysis Communication and presentation skills What you should know: Applications will close on Wednesday 23rd September 2026.
