About this role

Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/18/2026. Proficiency Requirement (Typing): The Program Support Assistant (OA) position requires applicants to show possession of the ability to type 40 words per minute with minimal mistakes.

Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. The selection service may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

~AND~ To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-05 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR; Education: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with the application.

OR; Experience and Education Combination: Have an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement, and the specialized experience as described above, meets the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
