Role Description Symphony is seeking an enthusiastic Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Placement Student to join our Infrastructure team. At Symphony, real-time collaboration and secure communication demand ultra-high availability, ultra-low latency, and robust resilience. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers to apply software engineering practices to infrastructure and operations problems. You will gain hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, automated deployment pipelines, and reliability monitoring, helping ensure our enterprise platform stays scalable, performant, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Automation: Assist in writing and maintaining automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline deployment, scaling, and infrastructure management. Monitoring & Observability: Help build, refine, and maintain dashboards and alerts (using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog) to track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs). Incident Response & Support: Shadow SRE mentors during incident triage, assist with root cause analysis (RCA), and contribute to blameless post-mortem documentation.
Performance & Reliability Tuning: Participate in analyzing system performance bottlenecks, stress testing services, and identifying single points of failure within cloud infrastructure. CI/CD Pipeline Maintenance: Support the maintenance and improvement of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate safe, reliable software releases. Qualifications Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
