We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️ 📍London/UK Remote | 💰£71,400 - £115,000 (Dependent on experience) + Incentive Awards tied to your performance + Benefits * ✨ We currently have two Payments Control Partner opportunities - a permanent role, and a 12 month Fixed-term contract (starting mid-late October).

These roles sit within our Payments Collective, as part of our Controls Discipline (CD). ⭐ Our Risk & Control Discipline (RCD) Like any other regulated bank, we need to make sure we are managing our risks and controls, and are fully compliant with our regulation. At Monzo we want to do so while continuing with our agile “test and learn” approach to launching products. You’ll have a supporting role to help our Control Discipline make sure we successfully roll out and embed our risk management framework across the 1st line.

ℹ️ About the roles Payments are at the heart of Monzo - enabling millions of customers to send, spend and receive money every day. Behind those customer experiences sits a complex ecosystem of payment products, technology and infrastructure, operations, payment schemes, external partners and regulatory obligations. As a Payments Control Partner , you'll be embedded within the Payments Collective and act as a first-line risk and control partner across this environment.

You'll build a deep understanding of Payments - its products, services, technology, operations, partners, regulatory obligations and strategic roadmap - and use this to help the Collective identify and manage its most important risks. The role spans product and change risk alongside the broader risk and control environment across Payments. You'll help Payments meet its regulatory and scheme obligations, respond effectively to incidents and emerging risks, and maintain strong governance, resilience and assurance.

The aim is to make risk management useful, proportionate and embedded in how Payments operates and makes decisions. 🔑 You’ll play a key role by… Being a trusted first-line risk partner for Payments , building a deep understanding of its products, services, technology, infrastructure, operations and regulatory landscape to provide practical, well-judged risk advice. Partnering on significant change and strategic programmes , working across Product, Engineering and Operations to identify and assess risk, lead high-quality risk assessments and help teams navigate the right governance route.

Shaping and strengthening the Payments risk and control environment , bringing a clear view of what a strong, scalable and proportionate control environment looks like for a multi-market, global Payments organisation, identifying gaps and ensuring material risks are effectively managed. Supporting Payments' regulatory, policy and scheme obligations , translating requirements into practical actions and supporting regulatory assessments, notifications, reporting and submissions where required.

Supporting significant incidents and remediation , helping teams assess customer, regulatory and control impacts, coordinate appropriate remediation and ensure lessons are reflected in the wider risk and control environment. Supporting Payments' resilience and continuity , including Operational Resilience, Business Continuity and relevant third-party and exit planning activity. Helping Payments deliver good customer outcomes , supporting Consumer Duty monitoring and product reviews and using data and customer evidence to identify where further investigation or action is needed.

Supporting governance, audit and assurance activity , providing clear risk insight to Payments leadership, coordinating relevant internal and external assurance activity and ensuring findings are appropriately addressed. Improving how risk management works across Payments , working across Product, Engineering, Operations and specialist teams to simplify, automate and embed proportionate risk management into how the Collective operates.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if… You bring a strong understanding of what good looks like for the control environment of a multi-market, global Payments organisation, with the experience and judgement to identify gaps and shape how the environment needs to evolve as we scale. You understand that Payments risk extends beyond customer-facing products and can connect product, operational, technology, regulatory, scheme and resilience risks.

You have experience independently leading complex risk assessments and providing effective challenge to Product, Engineering and Operations teams. You have strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks, including risk assessment, control design and monitoring, issue and action management, incidents and governance. You're comfortable interpreting regulatory and policy requirements and translating them into practical actions.

You have experience supporting complex incidents, remediation, regulatory activity, audit or assurance. You're comfortable working with data and using metrics, incidents, control information and customer evidence to understand the health of a risk and control environment. You can move between strategic programmes and ongoing
