Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing calendars or coordinating projects or taskings for organizational leadership to determine priority order of accomplishment; 2) making travel and lodging arrangements; 3) assisting management, administration staff, and employees on administrative operations of the office (for example: processes concerning an organizational security program, supply/equipment purchases, coordinating personnel actions, or building equipment maintenance); AND 4) creating and maintaining office files and correspondence in accordance with established regulations/guidelines.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (NOTE: You MUST provide copies of ALL your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST provide copies of ALL your transcripts.) NOTE: If you feel you qualify based on the substitution of education for experience or a combination of education and experience, you MUST submit copies of ALL your transcripts or you will be rated as ineligible.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Please see the specific instructions regarding supporting documentation for Time in Grade requirements in the REQUIRED DOCUMENTS section, below. NOTE: Applicants must meet all Time-in-Grade requirements and experience requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Current Federal employees applying under VEOA eligibility are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
