UK remote
Network & Security Delivery Team Leader
About this role
We're looking for a Network & Security Delivery Team Lead to join our team of 20 network consultants. We are one of the UKs largest, privately owned MSPs, providing ISP services, MPLS connectivity, hosting facilities and private cloud, and partner with Microsoft for public cloud solutions. We design and deliver complex network and security solutions for large and mid-sized enterprise customers. This is still a hands-on technical role.
Around 80% of your time will go on leading customer projects from start to finish: running technical workshops, producing LLDs and SoWs, and designing, building and commissioning multi-vendor solutions, mainly based on Cisco and Fortinet. The other 20% is leading a team of 5–6 experienced consultants. That covers day-to-day work allocation, mentoring, 1:1s, performance and absence management, and the team's training and certification plan.
The team is mature and largely self-managing, so this role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants to take their first step into management while staying close to the technology. You'll work closely with Project Management, Sales and the other delivery teams, and provide cover for the Team leaders when needed. You'll need at least 7 years' experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise network and security solutions, ideally in an MSP, ISP or systems integrator.
You'll need strong hands-on skills in routing, switching and security, focusing on Cisco and or Fortinet in particular SD WAN, Enterprise Networking, and Next Generation Firewall configuration security. Experience of wireless and radius servers such as ISE or FortiNac would be beneficial. You should have a proven track record of acting as technical lead on customer projects, turning designs into detailed LLDs and effort estimates, and working confidently with senior stakeholders.
Experience mentoring or informally leading engineers is essential. Formal line management experience is not. You must hold CCNP-level certification (Enterprise or Security) and Fortinet NSE 7 / FCSS or equivalent. CCIE is a strong advantage. Experience with Azure networking, MPLS/service provider environments, Palo Alto, Extreme or Cato would also be welcome. You must be eligible for SC clearance, hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel to customer sites.
