About this role

We currently have permanent opportunities for our MHE Trainer to join our Health & Safety team in Willand, Devon. This post is working Days, The hours of work are 09:00am - 18:00pm and the shift pattern: Monday - Friday The rate of pay is £14.90 per hour Your Main Responsibilities as a MHE Trainer include: Delivering high quality training and assessment for all mechanical handling operators Ensuring compliance with company procedures Ensuring compliance with legal procedures Ensuring compliance with industry best practice Plan, deliver and record operator training, refresher training and competency assessments Maintain accurate training records Support managers in ensuring only competent, authorised employees operate MHE Provide coaching and support to operators Investigate training needs following incidents or near misses Contribute to improving workplace transport safety standards Working closely with operational departments, Health & Safety and departmental managers, the MHE trainer will play a key role in compliance with PUWER, LOLER and HSE guidelines while promoting a positive safety culture.

Product quality is everyone’s responsibility, and the highest standards of quality must be maintained throughout all stages of the manufacturing process. In your specific role this includes carrying out tasks in line with documented procedures and ensuring the products that we produce meet customer specifications. You will consistently refer to the relevant customer specification sheets to ensure that the portions / products that are being packed are in accordance with the agreed weight and size parameters and that there are no visible quality issues with the product e.g.

excessive bruising, poor cutting standards, bone fragments, or excess fat You are responsible for identifying and reporting any product defects or deviations to specifications and removing those products from the line. This should also include a root cause analysis to help identify what caused the quality issue. You will also coach others to ensure they fully understand and adhere to the relevant customer specification sheets Essential : Experience operating Mechanical Handling Equipment Good communication and coaching skills Ability to deliver practical and classroom-based training Strong organisational skills with the ability to to maintain accurate training records IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office 6 months minimum forklift experience Desirable: Accredited MHE instructor qualification (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT, NPORS or equivalent) Previous experience as a MHE trainer or Instructor Experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment Training opportunity: We recognise that great trainers often come from experienced operators.
