Mechanical Engineer
About this role
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-04 (GS-12/13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Advanced Optical Instrumentation and Data Acquisition experience in the full lifecycle (research, design, development, installation, maintenance, and application) of complex optical instrumentation suites and data acquisition systems, including mastery of techniques such as imaging for motion analysis, digital cinematography, ultra-high resolution post-production, Digital Image Correlation, Photogrammetric analysis, and GPS tracking.
2) Instrumentation Systems Development and Integration experience, including a proven ability to develop state-of-the-art instrumentation systems for real-time or near real-time data gathering, filtering, recording, and display, coupled with extensive practical experience with various instrumentation components (e.g., transducers, signal conditioning, data transmitting methods). 3) Test and Evaluation Project Leadership by leading technical teams in the planning and execution of complex instrumentation projects, including establishing test requirements, drafting test plans, overseeing operations, and coordinating post-process activities, particularly in support of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) system tests.
4) Technical Authority and Consultation by serving as a recognized technical authority, providing expert advice, consulting with customers, generating technical documentation, and representing the organization on technical committees related to test instrumentation, and in Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events. 5) Mission-Specific Knowledge and Analysis, including a thorough understanding of ALRE operating principles, unique site components (e.g., Jet Cars, Dead Loads), test site operational/safety procedures, and the application of control system theory and advanced data analysis techniques to support evaluation and performance engineers.
6) Having Acquisition Workforce Compliance experience relevant to obtaining and maintaining a Defense Acquisition Workforce (DAWIA) certification in Engineering and Technical Management, including continuous learning requirements.
