About this role

The membrane is a key component of a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer, responsible for proton transport across the cell and gas separation. In this thesis, you will investigate the effects of different operating conditions on membrane State of Health (SoH), contributing directly to the durability and efficiency of future hydrogen technologies. Join us and help shape the next generation of sustainable hydrogen solutions.

You will study the analyzed system and contribute to the informed design of experiments (DoE). As part of the experimental work, you will assemble laboratory-scale electrochemical cells and execute test protocols under varying operating conditions. Based on the generated data, you will analyze results and support their interpretation. Education: Master studies in the field of Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials, Energy or comparable with excellent grades Experience and Knowledge: knowledge of electrochemical systems, including electrolyzers, fuel cells, and batteries; previous laboratory experience and data analysis skills as an advantage Personality and Working Practice: you combine strong communication skills and motivation with a solution-oriented mindset Work Routine: for this position, your presence on-site is essential, including laboratory work Languages: fluent in English Start: mid-November 2026 Duration: 6 months Requirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university.
