Mandatory Internship Overall Aircraft Design (all genders)
About this role
Your Mission: Be part of aviation history at VÆRIDION, where we’re pioneering the world’s first electric nine-seater aircraft! As an Overall Aircraft Design Intern (all genders) , you will join our Central Engineering team and support across various Overall Aircraft Design activities. This role is a broad role, and you will perform different tasks to support on-going aircraft design and analysis activities. You will be part of our interdisciplinary aircraft design team and contribute directly to the design process of our battery-electric aircraft.
Your Day-to-Day: Support the analysis and comparison of battery-electric aircraft concepts across different configurations and mission profiles. Investigate how technology assumptions and key design parameters influence aircraft performance, energy demand, and overall feasibility. Develop and adapt computational tools to support aircraft sizing, mission analysis, and design trade-off studies. Perform parameter and sensitivity studies to explore design dependencies and identify key technology drivers.
Collect, assess, and organise technical data to support consistent modelling assumptions and comparative analyses. Document methods, assumptions, and results, and prepare clear visualisations to discuss findings with the engineering team. Your Profile: Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme in Aerospace Engineering or a comparable technical discipline. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
Excellent programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB). Experience with aircraft design process, methods and tools. Experience with dedicated tools such as OpenMDAO and Aviary is a strong plus. Readily available knowledge about aircraft. Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented professional with strong ownership, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional European languages are an asset, combined with a strong motivation for aviation and electric aircraft technologies.
