About this role

GS11: To be eligible at the GS11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in a legal environment independently performing a range of legal and administrative services in support of discovery, case development, and/or hearing or trial preparation.

Examples of specialized experience include: coordinating with outside partners and/or case team members to facilitate the collection or production of discovery materials, such as by making recommendations on the formats in which materials are to be provided and providing input on language to include in subpoenas or discovery request; organizing, preparing, and routing electronic discovery materials for processing (such as on the use of document review databases and logical schemes for organizing and coding information); assisting attorneys with the analysis of discovery or evidentiary materials, including identifying information supporting claims or defenses in assigned cases; drafting legal documents and correspondence that require knowledge of legal and factual issues involved in assigned cases, such as routine motions and written summaries of witness statements or documentary evidence; utilizing a variety of software applications to conceptualize and create exhibits and demonstrations, including timelines, charts, and PowerPoint presentations, for use in legal proceedings.

OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g. Criminal Justice, Paralegal Sciences, Law): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M, if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
