Lead General Engineer
About this role
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include: Experience managing a program(s) in any of the following areas: systems engineering, vehicle automation, product and software development, safety management methods and systems, hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety validation methodologies, and related fields.
Experience writing and delivering briefings on technical data in a concise and logical manner that influences program decisions. Experience leading a technical project or initiate and develop a technical program, with little or no guidance and direction from a supervisor. Experience applying technical skills to lead projects requiring integrated solutions stemming from either a multidisciplinary scope, an obscure technical subject matter, or consideration and management of multiple differing stakeholder interests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Program Management Expertise: Ability to plan, implement, and manage a vehicle safety program, producing results that further the organization's mission by meeting organizational goals and objectives. Technical Expertise: Experience with advanced vehicle safety technologies, and experience applying technical principles, theories, and scientific evaluation procedures to conduct vehicle safety programs.
Communications and Coordination Expertise: Ability in communications to explain, advocate, and express facts and ideas in a convincing manner and a demonstrated ability to coordinate Technical programs: Ability to work with individuals and groups and developing a professional network with other organizations. For all types of consideration, experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
