Junior Business Analyst
About this role
The Junior Business Analyst will initially focus on the BRCGS Directory, building a good understanding of the platform, its users and the business processes it supports. Working alongside the Senior Business Analyst, Product Owner and software engineering team, you will help turn business needs into clear requirements and development work, support testing and help deliver improvements to the service. This role would suit someone who is curious and analytical.
You should be comfortable asking questions, understanding problems and looking for ways that processes and technology could work better. To perform this job successfully, you must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties: Build a good understanding of our Directory platform and how it is used by internal and external stakeholders. Support the Senior Business Analyst and Product Owner in understanding business and user needs and translating these into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
Work with developers, QA and Product Owners during delivery, helping to answer questions and identify gaps or issues. Help understand existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute ideas for simpler and more effective ways of working. Prepare test scenarios and support user acceptance testing, gather feedback and help confirm that changes meet the agreed requirements. Support the product backlog by helping to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Help investigate reported issues and understand their potential business impact. Support release activities, including documentation, stakeholder communication and basic post-release checks. Build positive relationships with users and stakeholders and support interviews, workshops and process reviews. Use available data and reports to help understand issues, check assumptions and support decisions.
Consider accessibility and different user needs when analysing and testing changes. Essential Some experience of analysing problems, improving processes, supporting digital change or working with software teams is helpful. This could come from employment, an apprenticeship, placement, education or another relevant setting. Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to break down problems, identify gaps and manage competing tasks.
