About this role

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Joint Commission Coordinator: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification requirement above, applicants must also meet the Minimum Qualifications defined below for the GS-0601, General Health Science series. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) experience in a healthcare setting managing, directing, or supporting clinical quality management, accreditation, regulatory compliance, patient safety, or performance improvement activities 2) reviewing healthcare quality, regulatory, accreditation, or organizational requirements to assist in identifying compliance or performance gaps 3) managing, directing, or assisting with quality improvement, compliance, assessment, or organizational readiness activities, and 4) communicating or collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to support healthcare quality and regulatory requirements.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Three (3) years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts) OR Combination of Education and Experience: Specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and more than two years but less than 3 years of graduate education as described above.
