Investor in Residence
About this role
About the role You've built a company, run a team or invested for a few years, and you're between chapters. Maybe you've exited, left a role, or wound something down. You want time to work out what comes next without stepping out of the venture world while you do. We're offering a seat in our Berlin office for six to nine months. You'll work as part of the investment team on real deals and real portfolio problems, and you'll have room to explore your own next move, whether that's founding again, joining a startup or going deeper into investing.
About PT1 PT1 is an independent early-stage VC with offices in Berlin and London. We invest in companies that electrify energy and buildings, automate construction and industry, and make infrastructure more resilient. Our portfolio includes Voltfang, ecoworks, PlanRadar, Wunderflats, Terra One, Gendo, Beagle, Climate X and AUAR. We've invested alongside Visionaries, ForwardOne, Daphni, Insight Partners, Google Ventures, Zacua Ventures and Aenu.
How we work We're a small team, and PT1 feels more like a well-funded startup than a classic fund. Everyone here has shaped the firm, from how we run diligence to which theses we chase to the tools we've built. We run on our own stack for sourcing, diligence and portfolio work, and people who've seen it call it the most advanced VC stack they know. What you'll do Work on live deals from the first call to IC, and bring an operator's or investor's judgement to them Shape investment theses in the markets you know best Work with portfolio founders on the problems you've already solved: hiring, product, go-to-market, their next round Help build the platform.
If you think in systems or write code, there's a lot to push further. Use the time and the network to work out your own next step. If that turns out to be a company we'd back, even better. About you Ex-founder, operator or investor with real years behind you (VC, PE, M&A, or building and running a company) Technical background or technical depth: engineering, CS, maths, natural sciences, or years of building technical products Strong opinions on at least one of energy, infrastructure, construction or automation Comfortable with financial models and term sheets Fluent in English.
