About this role

This position is open to applicants Area 3 applicants ONLY. AREA 1: Currently employed T32/T5 full-time permanent, indefinite and term personnel of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard AREA 2: All current Career Conditional/Career Status Federal Employees and Reinstatement Eligibles AREA 3: Open to Public (Nationwide) - United States Citizens AREA 4: Exception Area: SPECIFIC DIRECTORATE Security Clearance/Background Check requirements: In order to comply with US DOD requirements and ensure the safety and security of the missions, programs, property and personnel of the Nebraska Military Department, employees must obtain the appropriate background investigation and maintain the level of security clearance assigned to their respective work.

Failure to obtain, within one year of appointment, and maintain the designated type of security clearance/background check required for the respective work may result in a job offer being rescinded, separations of employment, or other actions as may be deemed in the best interest of the agency. Prior to appointment individuals must meet the security clearance requirements for the position or submit the required documents of the Nebraska National Guard, Personnel Security Manager for processing the appropriate investigation.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; knowledge of applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; skill in interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening; ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects; skill in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws; ability to enunciate without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communications; ability to write reports and presentation formats; and ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level that demonstrates the ability to independently manage Inspector General (IG), inspection, compliance, self-assessment, complaints resolution, and mission-assurance programs. Qualifying experience includes planning and conducting inspections, evaluations, exercises, or compliance reviews; analyzing data to identify trends, deficiencies, risk, and noncompliance; developing risk-based assessment plans and corrective actions; preparing reports, briefings, findings, and recommendations for senior leaders; applying laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; managing or supporting self-assessment, internal-control, waiver, or continuous-improvement programs; and receiving, analyzing, resolving, or investigating sensitive complaints, allegations, or inquiries.

Applicants must demonstrate skill in research, data analysis, interviewing, project or case management, report writing, oral and written communication, training, and coordination with leadership, higher headquarters, and external agencies.
