INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CYBER SECURITY SPECIALIST
About this role
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which include AND Demonstrate the ability in IT security principles, methods, regulations, and policies to develop technical specifications ensuring full compliance with security requirements at the Local Area Network (LAN) level.
Expertise encompasses the full spectrum of IT security requirements for certification and accreditation (C&A / A&A), network operations, protocols, systems testing, evaluation, and performance management methods. Skilled in implementing and coordinating activities designed to protect, defend, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Expert knowledge of a full range of IT cybersecurity principles, concepts, practices, products and services (including systems software, database software, immediate access storage technology), and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures to include Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Program security principles, practices and practices, policies related to information systems security.
