About this role

The Indirect Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing the goods and services needed to support daily business operations, including facilities, maintenance, IT, equipment, and professional services.

This role manages competitive sourcing, supplier selection, negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery follow-up to ensure timely service and cost-effective purchasing. Working closely with internal stakeholders, Finance, and Contracts, the Indirect Buyer follows company purchasing policies and applicable Government contracting requirements, maintains accurate procurement documentation, and supports appropriate cost classification and audit readiness.

Success in this role requires sound judgment, strong supplier relationships, attention to detail, and the ability to balance operational needs, cost, quality, and compliance. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience considered. 5+ years of warehouse, inventory-control, materials-management, or logistics experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.

Experience supporting Government or defense contracts and managing Government-furnished property (GFP) and/or contractor-acquired property in accordance with applicable FAR requirements. Demonstrated experience maintaining accurate, complete, and auditable inventory and property records, including receipt, issue, transfer, location, quantity, condition, disposition, and contract accountability. Experience leading physical inventories, cycle counts, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for inventory discrepancies.

Ability to establish and maintain inventory controls that protect material from loss, damage, deterioration, theft, misidentification, and unauthorized use. Experience with receiving, inspection coordination, put-away, material handling, picking, kitting, staging, shipping, and returns processes. Working knowledge of inventory traceability practices, including lot, serial, batch, part-number, and revision/configuration control, as applicable.

Proficiency with ERP, warehouse-management, inventory-control, barcode/RFID, and Microsoft Excel systems. Experience supervising warehouse personnel; setting work priorities; developing procedures; tracking productivity, accuracy, and on-time delivery performance. Knowledge of safe material-handling, storage, packaging, shipping, hazardous-material, and security practices appropriate to the facility and products handled.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with procurement, quality, engineering, manufacturing, program management, finance, and Government/customer representatives. Preferred qualifications Experience preparing for or supporting property-management-system audits, DCMA reviews, internal audits, or Government property administration. Familiarity with Government property reporting, discrepancy reporting, loss/damage investigations, corrective actions, and contract closeout/disposition activities.

Experience handling controlled, sensitive, high-value, serialized, export-controlled, or mission-critical material. APICS/ASCM certification such as CPIM or CLTD, or related credentials in warehouse, logistics, or supply-chain management. Experience leading warehouse layout, process-improvement, lean, 5S, or automation initiatives. Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, manufacturing, or R&D regulated environment.
