Hydrotechnical Designer (for projects in Germany)

At AFRY, you will contribute to the planning and design of hydraulic and civil engineering projects, including locks, weirs, waterfront and port structures, flood protection systems, pumping stations, navigation infrastructure and other water-related facilities. You will be involved in all project phases, from feasibility studies and concept development through detailed design and implementation support. Your key responsibilities are: Planning and delivering hydraulic and civil engineering projects throughout all design and implementation phases.
Coordinating surveying works, geotechnical investigations and hydraulic analyses. Preparing feasibility studies, option assessments and technical concepts. Developing engineering solutions for retaining walls, waterfront and port structures, pumping stations, shafts, chambers, reinforced concrete basins and related infrastructure. Collaborating closely with CAD designers, technicians and other engineering specialists.
Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates. Developing construction concepts and implementation strategies, including construction phasing. Contributing to technical solution development and engineering decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Preparing technical reports, explanatory memoranda and planning documentation. Preparing tender documents, technical specifications and bills of quantities. Evaluating contractor bids and preparing award recommendations.
We expect that you have: A Master's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering. At least 5 years of experience in the planning and design of infrastructure and engineering structures. Good written and spoken English (minimum CEFR B2 level), with the ability to communicate effectively in a technical and engineering environment. Experience in tendering, quantity take-offs and cost estimation. Experience with at least one AVA or comparable procurement software solution (e.g.
