HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY)
About this role
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, 0201 series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Knowledge of fundamental HRM laws, principles, systems, policies, methods, and practices; as well as interviewing, analytical, and research techniques sufficient to conduct fact-finding and recommend solutions to moderately difficult and complex but well-precedented and/or recurring issues and problems.
Extensive knowledge of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel record. -- Extensive knowledge of the procedures and requirements regarding military personnel record construction and maintenance. Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature or to refer them to the responsible staff member. Knowledge of written and oral communication techniques sufficient to develop and deliver briefings, project papers, status/staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
Knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys and the similarities and differences among software types to produce a wide range of documents, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Knowledge of standard office equipment such as electric typewriters, copiers, fax machines, and office automation systems to perform a substantial range of office automation support.
OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
