About this role
Experience GS09: You qualify for the GS-9 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing and managing federal workers' compensation cases in accordance with the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) and related regulations. Providing technical guidance and support to employees, supervisors, and agency leadership on workers' compensation rights, responsibilities, and regulatory requirements.
Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining case documentation, including developing plans of action, establishing diary dates, and ensuring all required evidence is collected and submitted. Interpreting and applying case law, regulations, and agency policies to workers' compensation claims, and assisting in the preparation of responses to legal inquiries or Department of Labor hearings. Experience GS11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Administering, processing, or managing workers' compensation or employee benefits cases.
Reviewing and analyzing claim documentation, medical information, personnel records, wage information, or other supporting evidence. Using automated systems such as ECOMP or similar case management tools to maintain case records. Providing technical guidance to employees, supervisors, or managers on workers' compensation or employee benefits requirements. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to support timely and accurate case resolution.

Education Substitution GS09: A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level.
