HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY)
About this role
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support positions, 0203 Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of and skill in the application of a comprehensive body of military HR policies, rules, processes and procedures related to pay and personnel management to perform a variety of interrelated military HR support work and resolve support issues and problems in one or more military HR specialties; Knowledge of command goals and objectives as well as the systems, processes and procedures regarding the monitoring of various pay and personnel management programs and research of associated inquiries; Knowledge of and ability in the application of various data and information systems and online military resources utilized in pay and personnel management.
OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a standardized body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to military assignments and of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel records and the procedures and requirements regarding their maintenance sufficient to process a variety of requests for personnel actions.
Knowledge of basic military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures (qualified typist not required). Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and various office automation hardware, software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, and graphs.
