Health Science Specialist - Clinical Research Coordinator
About this role
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: A transcript is required at the time of application and must show date degree conferred.
Education cannot be credited without documentation. To qualify at the GS-9 level you must meet one of the following minimum qualification requirements in addition to the basic education requirement above. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Health Science Specialist.
Specialized experience includes: coordinating clinical research studies/projects, including managing timelines, tracking milestones, and ensuring compliance with research protocols; preparing, submitting, and tracking Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications; monitoring expenditures and preparing financial reports to track budget and cost allocations; coordinating recruitment, scheduling, and data collection activities for research studies; and using various office software and database systems to maintain records, populate forms, and manage administrative documentation.
NOTE: One (1) full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
