Remote
Head of Product - Interfaces
About this role
In the early 1980s at Bell Labs, Gerald Ash and his colleagues questioned a rule that AT&T's long-distance network had followed for decades; a call climbed a fixed hierarchy of switches until it found an open path. They modeled the idea, simulated it, and tested it until it held. In 1984, AT&T put Dynamic Nonhierarchical Routing (DNHR) into the national network, which became the basis of global real-time telephony routing that came after it.
