About this role

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following Basic Requirements: To qualify at the GS-12 level: To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Reviewing congressional and government agency transportation safety documents for items or issues of interest to an agency or organization (i.e., Congressional Record, Committee reports, hearing transcripts, draft legislation, resolutions, and transportation agency proposed regulations and guidance); (2) Assisting with drafting and reviewing congressional legislative testimony, proposed bills, and correspondence; (3) Assisting support staff with the preparation for hearings and briefings; and (4) Responding to inquiries from members of congress, state legislators, and staff to include responses to correspondence and written requests for information regarding an agency's or organization's transportation operations, investigations, and policies.

To qualify at the GS-13 level: To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Reviewing and drafting transportation safety specific feedback on transportation related Congressional testimony, draft legislation, and proposed bills by applying knowledge of the congressional legislative process and Congress' structure; (2) Composing and preparing correspondence and drafts of congressional testimony and maintaining congressional tracking systems; (3) Providing reports to leadership on pending and/or proposed legislation related to transportation safety; and (4) Supporting Congressional members or senior leaders from an organization/agency on Congressional hearings, state testimony, and committee briefings regarding organization/agency's initiatives and policies.
