We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role We are hiring a Gas Supply & Transport Lead to own natural gas supply for Anthropic's non-cloud data center portfolio in the United States and Canada. Some of our campuses will run on gas-fired, behind-the-meter generation.
At those sites fuel is the power supply: if gas does not arrive, in the volume and at the pressure the plant needs, the compute does not run. You will set the fuel plan for each site, contract supply and firm transportation, work with our project teams so that interconnects and laterals arrive on a schedule the fuel plan can rely on, and carry the agreements through internal approval to signature. You will work beside the teammates who originate sites and behind-the-meter generation, who contract front-of-meter power, and who schedule the portfolio once it operates.
You are this function's first dedicated owner. Responsibilities Own the fuel plan for each gas-fired site in the United States and Canada: volume and ramp, hourly swing, pressure and gas quality, supply basin and hub, the path from receipt point to plant, how firm each piece must be, and by when, set against the generation design and the site's schedule. Test gas deliverability early in site selection and diligence: available and expandable pipeline capacity, operating pressure, constraint and curtailment history, single-pipeline exposure, and realistic timelines for new capacity.
Tell site origination which sites have a real fuel path and which do not. Structure and negotiate gas supply agreements with producers, marketers, and midstream companies, from term sheet through internal approval to signature, with legal and outside counsel: index and basis, volume flexibility, delivery point, firmness and force majeure, credit support, and term. Secure transportation and storage: firm service on interstate, intrastate, and Canadian pipelines, open seasons and precedent agreements for expansions, capacity release, balancing and no-notice services, storage, and local distribution service where that is the only path.
