Field Service Technician
About this role
Who will you be working with? You will be working directly with our Customers and Sales teams to ensure all machines are meeting our customer expectations. How will you make a difference? As a member of the Field Services team, you will be responsible for all troubleshooting and customer training on new and existing Roadway Work Equipment. You will put new machines into service, which will include training and demonstrating the new equipment at the customer’s site.
You will repair existing equipment at the customer’s site, troubleshoot the machines and perform the necessary service, maintenance, and repairs to restore the equipment to proper operation. What do we want to know about you? High School diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial or mobile heavy equipment mechanic. Associate’s degree a plus PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting training strongly preferred General mechanical experience, extensive knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems including the ability to read schematics Previous railroad experience a plus Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
Requires mechanical aptitude Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in different situations. Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, schematics (12/24 governmental regulations and professional journals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, suppliers and the public. Ability to successfully work in an environment with diverse personalities and build strong customer relationships. Must have a Valid Driver’s License Travel =70%-80% What will your typical day look like? Recommends repair parts and product improvements to customers. Advises and trains customers on proper maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment.
Prepares weekly travel expense records and field reports as required. Works with engineering and/or production to solve problems with new machines. Makes positive contributions towards the continuous improvement of our equipment and processes. Ability to work independently and achieve effective rapport with customers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
