Job Overview We are looking for an ESD Consultant to join our Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) team and help create buildings that are more sustainable, energy-efficient, healthy and resilient. You will be mentored and working alongside experienced ESD consultants, contributing to a diverse range of projects across Australia. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise, gain exposure to industry-leading sustainability frameworks, and build a rewarding career in sustainable building design.

In this role, you will work across a range of activities: NCC Section J compliance assessments, including both Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) and J1V3 Performance Solution energy modelling. NatHERS assessments and BASIX certificates for residential developments. Supporting Green Star, NABERS and WELL assessments, including credit tracking, evidence compilation and submission preparation. Embodied carbon and whole-of-life carbon assessments.

Preparing ESD reports to support planning applications and building approvals. Assisting clients and design teams in identifying practical sustainability outcomes that balance environmental performance, compliance and project objectives. Attending project and design coordination meetings with clients, architects and engineers, while developing project management and consulting skills. Requirements And Qualifications Must be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental or Renewable Energy Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline. 0-2 years of relevant experience in sustainability consulting, building services, engineering, architecture or a related field. Internship and vacation work experience will be highly regarded. Have a genuine interest in sustainability, sustainable building design, building performance and energy efficiency.

Exposure to NCC Section J, NatHERS, energy modelling or building simulation through study or professional experience is desirable. Familiarity with Green Star, NABERS, WELL or other sustainability rating tools is advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, or a willingness to learn.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
