As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead software engineers building and scaling critical platforms that power the OLX engineering ecosystem.

You'll combine strong people leadership with enough technical depth to guide major projects, shape technical direction, and help the team solve complex platform challenges. This is not a generalist Engineering Manager role. Previous experience leading an engineering team in a Platform environment is mandatory. We need someone who understands what it means to build platforms for other engineers and the unique challenges that come with balancing developer experience, reliability, scalability, standardisation, and team autonomy.

You'll capture requirements, shape ambitious but balanced project scope, lead technical initiatives, and partner across teams to solve technical problems and ensure smooth adoption and implementation of platform solutions. Our Platform environment is a mix of software engineering, APIs, distributed systems, infrastructure, DevOps, scalability, and reliability . We're looking for someone who can operate at both levels: developing people and leading a Platform team, while providing the technical and organisational leadership needed to make the platform successful.

What you will be doing: Lead by example and manage a team of talented engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support; Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science and data engineering managers, and product managers to define project goals, scope, and deliverables; Drive the end-to-end development process, from design to implementation and deployment, ensuring high-quality and scalable solutions (with controlled cost); Identify and prioritize technical initiatives, considering ROI, scalability, and performance requirements; Implement modern software development practices, including agile methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment, to ensure efficient and effective project delivery; Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that the platform meets customer needs and provides an exceptional user experience; Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement.
